Sleeves no longer a problem in PET recycling

Published: July 25, 2013 11:33 am ET

Italian machinery maker Amut SpA has launched a new range of de-labeler machines that allow manufacturers to recycle PET bottles with PVC or PET-G sleeves.
Amut says the new machines overcome the problem of detaching the shrink-sleeve label from the bottle. Bottles are fed into the machine with a conveyor belt, then the labels are removed dry. They are then extracted from the belt before being conveyed to a compacting press or container. Any remaining labels are removed downstream using an air system or ballistic sieve.
The equipment works in a continuous process. The company is proposing three different sizes for the equipment, ranging from 1,000 kilograms per hour up to 6,000 kilograms per hour.
